FPSO RAIA is a floating production, storage and offloading vessel being built by Equinor for the development of a natural gas field offshore Brazil. It represents Equinor’s largest international investment project to date, with a total investment of approximately USD 9 billion.

The FPSO is designed with a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil and a daily production capacity of 126,000 barrels of oil and 16 million cubic metres of natural gas. Once operational, its gas export capacity is expected to meet approximately 15% of Brazil’s total natural gas demand. It will also become Brazil’s first offshore project dedicated to processing natural gas.

The project is being designed, constructed, and installed by MODEC, a globally leading FPSO contractor. COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Qidong), the principal contractor responsible for the construction and integration of the vessel, is undertaking the fabrication of the FPSO hull and its overall assembly and integration.

Often described as an “offshore oil and gas factory” and regarded as the “crown jewel” of offshore engineering, an FPSO is a core facility for deepwater oil and gas development. As critical protective devices within pressurised systems, safety valves must be accurately calibrated and maintained in full compliance with applicable requirements to ensure the safe operation and regulatory compliance of the platform.

Drawing on its extensive experience in the energy sector and its well-established service system, T-ALL Inspection stood out among multiple service providers and successfully secured the specialised scope covering safety valve calibration, repair, and compliant certification delivery for FPSO RAIA.

This cooperation marks a further advancement in T-ALL Inspection’s service capabilities in the high-end offshore engineering sector and demonstrates its continued alignment with world-class international standards.

To meet the project’s stringent operating requirements, T-ALL Inspection has leveraged its professional technical capabilities to provide robust support in three key areas: qualifications, precision, and quality assurance.

01 Dual Compliance in Qualifications

T-ALL Inspection holds the statutory qualifications required for safety valve calibration of special equipment and has successfully passed the client’s global supplier qualification audit.

All personnel assigned to the project are duly certified and possess extensive experience in the successful delivery of offshore engineering projects.

02 High-Precision Testing

T-ALL Inspection is equipped with high-precision digital calibration systems and performs all work in strict accordance with international standards, including ASME and API requirements.

The systems can accurately simulate valve performance under high-pressure deepwater operating conditions, ensuring reliable and precise calibration results.

03 Full Quality Traceability

The digital system continuously records pressure data at one-second intervals and automatically generates process curves.

Images and records are retained throughout all critical stages, while an individual file is established for every valve, ensuring full traceability across the entire calibration, repair, and delivery process.

To date, T-ALL Inspection’s safety valve calibration team has efficiently completed the full-process calibration, testing, repair, and certification delivery of the first batch of safety valves. All technical indicators have fully met the project’s quality-control requirements, and the quality and efficiency of the team’s work have been recognised by the client.
