Seventh Case: Successful Completion of Ultra-High-Definition Bi-directional Ultrasonic Internal Inspection of the Neijiang Branch Line of Southwest Pipeline

The operation team of T-ALL Inspection successfully retrieved the inspection device from the 95# gasoline pipeline of the Neijiang Branch Line, marking the triumphant conclusion of the seventh ultra-high-definition bi-directional ultrasonic internal inspection project. The ultrasonic probes remained intact, and the inspection data were comprehensive and valid, signifying a major achievement for T-ALL Inspection.

The Neijiang Branch Line features three parallel pipelines, each with a length of 1.84 kilometers, totaling 5.53 kilometers in length. Commissioned in September 2002, it transports diesel and gasoline under a design pressure of 1.8MPa through pipes measuring 168mm in diameter. These X52 grade steel pipes boast a wall thickness ranging from 5.6mm. The entire line incorporates multiple 1.5D bends, lacks pig launcher and receiver facilities, and has never undergone pigging or internal inspection since its inception. Additionally, the 95# gasoline pipeline has not been in service for two years, leaving the pipeline's passability and impurity conditions uncertain. Moreover, the limited space in the oil depot's valve station posed significant challenges for the inspection operation.

T-ALL Inspection conducted a thorough on-site survey, meticulously assessing the potential risks associated with pigging and inspection activities. By developing a specialized inspection plan complemented by contingency measures, the team meticulously monitored critical parameters such as pressure, flow rate, and pump speed during pigging and inspection phases, ensuring the flawless delivery of the project.

A total of 17 specialized tools, including half-coated foam pigs, fully coated foam caliper pigs, magnetic steel brush caliper pigs, magnetic steel brush pigs, and simulation bodies, were deployed to comprehensively map the condition of the pipeline. This rigorous process culminated in the successful deployment of the inspection device, guaranteeing the integrity and validity of the inspection data. This achievement serves as a valuable field experience for future similar projects.
