Following the successful completion and acceptance of the full-foam internal pipeline inspection project for the Longnan Branch Pipeline (94km), which is a long-distance pipeline with low throughput in China, the full-foam internal inspection project for the Longxi Branch Pipeline, contracted by T-ALL Inspection, has also successfully passed expert acceptance, setting a new record for the longest distance of 144km for internal pipeline inspection using full-foam technology in domestic long-distance pipelines.
The Longxi Natural Gas Offtake Branch Pipeline, under the jurisdiction of the Tianshui Oil and Gas Transportation Branch of the National Pipeline Network Gansu Company, spans a total length of 144.3km, with a pipe diameter of 219mm and a design pressure of 6.3MPa. Due to factors such as low daily gas transmission volume, long distance, and complex landforms along the route, no internal inspection operations have been successfully conducted since its commissioning in 2015. To ensure the successful completion of the inspection work, the T-ALL Inspection field team, with the strong support of the owner, conducted multiple site surveys of the Longxi Branch Pipeline, simulated implementation of the inspection plan, and conducted multiple calculations based on the current operating conditions for the operation of the inspection tools, fully assessing the difficulties and potential risks of this inspection operation. The field inspection operations for the Longxi Branch Pipeline began on August 9, 2024, with the launch of the first polyurethane foam pig, and successfully retrieved the vortex inspection tool on August 20, spanning a total of 12 days. During this period, one polyurethane foam pig, one foam geometry inspection tool, and one foam vortex inspection tool were launched. The field team, together with the owner, rose to the challenge, continuously optimizing processes to create relatively ideal operating conditions for the inspection tools. All parties involved united and overcame a series of challenges such as high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and night-time tracking of the inspection tools, ultimately successfully completing the full-foam internal inspection operations for the Longxi Branch Pipeline.
The full-foam internal inspection operations for the Longxi Branch Pipeline mark another significant achievement by T-ALL Inspection in solving complex pipeline inspection problems through collaborative innovation. This successful practice has injected confidence in the continuous progress and improvement of full-foam technology. Looking forward, T-ALL Inspection will continue to work with industry partners to jointly contribute wisdom and strength to solving difficult pipeline inspection problems.
