Uses a bare metal coupon to simulate a coating defect, installed in soil near the pipeline and electrically connected to the pipeline via a test post
A data logger installed in the test post measures the resistance change of the coupon to determine its corrosion rate (without excavation or coupon removal)
The data logger can measure and record parameters such as pipeline potential, AC voltage, current density, and polarization resistance
Data can be transferred to a computer via an interface or transmitted wirelessly via GSM/GPRS networks
