Pipeline Corrosion Rate Monitoring
Based on an intelligent cathodic protection (CP) system, ER (Electrical Resistance) corrosion rate probes are used to monitor pipeline corrosion rates caused by AC/DC stray currents and to verify the effectiveness of cathodic protection.

Technical Features

  • Uses a bare metal coupon to simulate a coating defect, installed in soil near the pipeline and electrically connected to the pipeline via a test post
  • A data logger installed in the test post measures the resistance change of the coupon to determine its corrosion rate (without excavation or coupon removal)
  • The data logger can measure and record parameters such as pipeline potential, AC voltage, current density, and polarization resistance
  • Data can be transferred to a computer via an interface or transmitted wirelessly via GSM/GPRS networks
